This posting is for the City of Evart City Clerk interim position to be appointed by City Council

Reports To

The City Clerk will report to the City Manager and City Council

Position Overview

The City Clerk is the “keeper of all information” for the City of Evart

Responsibilities and Duties

The position of City Clerk includes the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain all official city records, including deeds, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Keep a record of all ordinances, resolutions, and actions by the City Council
  • Provide public notice of all meetings, attend all City Council Meetings, and keep a journal of its proceedings
  • Provides notary public services
  • Conducts all elections for the City of Evart
  • Registers and maintains all voting records for the City of Evart using the State of Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF) system
  • Perform additional duties as may be prescribed by the City Council


Minimum qualifications for the position of City Clerk include:

  • A City resident for a minimum of six months
  • Effective written and communications skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
