Who is running for City Council?

All elected officials for the City of Evart run non-partisan campaigns.

Mayor (two year term)

  • On the ballot in 2024.

Council (four-year term)

  • Two seats will be on the ballot in 2024.

Clerk (two-year term)

  • The clerk's seat will be on the ballot in 2024.

Per the Evart City charter, our Mayor and City Clerk are elected every two years, while the City Council race is staggered.  Two seats are elected in each even year election.

Any candidate running for office must be a duly registered elector in the City and shall have been a resident of the City for six (6) months immediately prior to the election at which he/she is a candidate for office.

Candidates must submit nominating petitions signed by no less than twenty-five (25) and no more than fifty (50) registered voters of the City.  Petitions must be filed at the City Clerk’s office before 4:00 pm on or before the 15th Tuesday prior to the date of such election.  Voters may only sign petitions for the number of seats open at each election: one petition each for the Mayor and the City Clerk, two for council unless there’s a vacancy, and another seat open.  If a voter signs too many petitions, the signatures bearing the most recent date will be invalidated.
